Congratulations to the CHS Band for receiving the school’s very first Sweepstakes award at the 2023 OSSAA State Band Contest in Ada on March 29. 

To be eligible for sweepstakes, the band has to earn a superior rating in OSSAA marching contest in the fall, superior rating in OSSAA District contest in early March, superior rating on stage at OSSAA state contest, and a superior rating in sight reading at OSSAA state contest. If any of the four are not a superior rating, you lose the sweepstakes. The Pride of Chandler was superior in all four stages of competition under the direction of Rachel Karger. 

The district concert contest was held in Cushing and the marching contest was in Oologah in October.
