The Shawnee News-Star’s Best of Tri-County Scholarships

Counselors and/or school administrators nominate SENIORS for this program from the month of September through March. From those monthly nominations, a committee will select two honorees each month. From those 16 finalists, various scholarships will be presented to finalists, and an overall Student of the Year will be announced at the Best of Tri-County Preps Area Preps Awards Gala in June 2027.  

Student of the Year Requirements: 
Must be a senior. 
Hold a minimum of 3.5 GPA. 
Be involved in school activities & community involvement (church, employment, family responsibilities, or volunteerism).
Demonstrate by example that they are high-achieving.
Demonstrate that they are a leader and/or have positively influenced others.
Demonstrate integrity, character, and respect in the way they interact with others.
Students who are selected will have a meeting with Ms. Burchardt. 
 
Oklahoma Academic Scholar Recognition Program – nominations submitted by the school district

Oklahoma Academic Scholars receive a certificate of recognition from the State Board of Education and the local high school, a gold seal affixed to their diploma, and the honor recorded on their official transcript. 

Graduating seniors who meet all of the requirements shall be recognized by the local school district and the State Board of Education as an Oklahoma Academic Scholar. See website for qualifications.
